Thursday's Food Log

Breakfast was an egg sandwich with a yeast free spelt bread and coconut oil used instead of butter. I felt full and pain free after this meal.

For lunch, I made a wrap using a whole wheat tortilla, refried pinto beans, carrots, onions, green peppers, tomato and spring mix lettuce. That nasty looking black stuff is actually my FAVORITE food to eat at the moment :-) Portabella mushrooms sauteed in coconut oil, balsamic vinegar and minced garlic. Yum!

I wasn't all that thrilled with the wrap. But the mushrooms were delish. Overall I felt full and pain free after eating this meal.

For dinner, we went to Red Lobster to celebrate Ivan's birthday. I didn't concern myself at all with my restricted diet and I paid for it all night and through to the morning. I was bloated, gassy, crampy and felt gross from my throat all the way down. I felt so bad I could hardly move once I got home. Needless to say, I'll be sticking to my diet today (Friday) which means bringing my own food to the family fun night BBQ we're going to tonight.

The Bag of Tricks

Although I am not using a doctor or midwife for prenatal care, I do have an ND that I see for general health. I have issues with digestion and also have an iron deficiency so I am working with my ND to address these issues. I'm taking supplements (my bag of tricks) and I'm on a diet that will help my body during the healing process.

So this is what I am taking daily:

Intestamine - 2 pills twice daily
Calcium/Magnesium - 2 pills daily
Prenatal Vitamins - 2 pills daily
Digestive Enzymes - 2 before each meal (average: 6 daily)
GI Flora (probiotic) - 2 pills daily
Ferrum Phosphoricum cell salt - 2 pills three times a day
Floradix Iron - 1 pill three times a day

For a total of.............. 25 pills a day!

In addition to that I am also taking a tablespoon a day of Udo's Oil for omega fatty acids.

As for my diet, here is what my main focus is in a nutshell:

-vegetables
- whole grains
- yeast free whole grain breads in moderation
- eggs
- fish (from low mercury list)
- fruit in moderation
- beverages are water and herbal teas

For snacking, it's veggies and dips like hummus and guacamole, and also incorporate almonds, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds.

The main things I'm to avoid are dairy, meat (except fish), nuts, sugars, juices, processed foods, yeast.

The good thing is I'm eating a very healthy diet which is what I want anyway, and also this is a temporary diet and as my body heals I will be able to tolerate more and more foods.

I plan to keep a food journal for about a week to keep an eye on what I'm doing and how I'm feeling. If my camera cooperates then I'll use my blog for the journal.

Luv Bug's on the move!

This is my absolute favorite part of pregnancy :-) I can't feel the baby from the outside with my hands but if I sit still I can feel little jabs at my pants line! So exciting. When you don't have ultrasounds or dopplers confirming anything along the way you have to wait patiently until you can feel that there's someone alive in there. It's so reassuring. Lord knows my belly's getting bigger. I'm pretty sure I'm looking like my dear friend Christine did when she was closer to 8 months pregnant with her little Corwin. And I've also had plenty of the all-day-sickies to make me *feel* pregnant. But it wasn't until last night when I first felt the repeated tosses and turns of a little tiny person did I really KNOW there's a baby in there... a very alive and well baby!!! I'm sure those with kiddies know exactly what I mean :-) I feel much more justified now with this big bloated belly. It's luv bugs fault.

Belly Photo

Yes, that's a lollipop in my mouth :-) And yes... that's more bloated than baby but it still counts, right?!
